SMITHSONIAN TROPICAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE, PANAMA

We are excited to update you on the NOMIS-STRI postdoctoral fellowship selection process. As many of you know, the NOMIS Foundation (https://nomisfoundation.ch/) has partnered with STRI to fund two cohorts of 3 three-year postdoctoral fellows to explore fundamental questions addressing social behavior and its proximate and ultimate causes. Candidates working on any animal taxa, marine or terrestrial, are considered. Areas of specialty include the evolution and maintenance of social behavior, sensory biology and neuroethology, cognitive ecology, socioecology, neurogenetics, and the genetic or physiological bases of social behavior. For more information on this fellowship, see: https://stri.si.edu/academic-programs/fellowships/tropical-animal-behavior-3-year-fellowship

As part of the selection process, the top candidates will give presentations on zoom on the mornings of Wed Sept 25 and Thur Sept 26 from 8:30am to 11:30am Panama time. These presentations will be open to the STRI community and all are welcome to attend:

This is a new fellowship opportunity at STRI, and one we hope we will have funding to continue for many years to come. For full transparency, we outline the fellowship evaluation procedure below. We welcome your feedback on the candidates if you attend the seminars Sept 25 and 26. The selection committee will discuss the candidates and make awards immediately following the last presentation on Thur Sept 26, so if you would like to share your written comments please send them by the end of the presentations on Thur Sept 26 to Rachel Page (PageR at si.edu<mailto:PageR at si.edu>) and Adriana Bilgray (BilgrayA at si.edu<mailto:BilgrayA at si.edu>).
