Hi Doug,
Seems like the Australian government has been deploying a similar strategy for some years now. That’s a lot of money that they are waving around in yet another attempt to convince constituents that they are serious about saving the GBR. Although it is great to hear political leaders talking about water quality and enhanced resilience, the elephant in the room still lingers unscathed.
In this video some Australian coral scientists and political opponents voice their concerns in reaction to the most recent pledge of financial assistance.

It echoes the refrain which many have expressed here in reaction to (some) restoration efforts that persist in pivoting away from of the bigger question.
