Dear Coral-listers,
We would like to advertise an opening of a full time post-doctoral position
at the Centre Scientifique de Monaco.
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow in cell biology to
join the Coral Physiology team at CSM. Corals and other cnidarians are
becoming increasingly important model organisms in diverse aspects of cell
biology, including investigations into development, evolution, environmental
stress and biomineralization. Our focus is primarily cellular control of
biomineralization for which exciting new frontiers are starting to open up
(e.g. Sun et al. 2020 PNAS; Tambutte et al. 2020 Cell and Tissue Research).
We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to investigate the biology of
calcifying cells in different tropical coral species and under different
experimental conditions. The postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity
to interact with a team exploring the potential roles of diverse cellular
processes in driving biomineralization.
Candidate profile:
PhD degree related to cell Biology or cell Physiology,
Experience in electron and/or confocal microscopy techniques,
Experience of molecular and bioinformatics approaches,
Ability and willingness to conduct laboratory work,
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English,
Ability to write publications for peer-reviewed scientific journals,
Ability to work independently and self-guided, but likewise within an
interdisciplinary research team.
Initial appointment (ca. 2800 euros net + health insurance and pension) is
for 12-months, with possibility of extension for a second year (subject to
funding and performance). It will ideally start between May and September
2021. The position is supervised by Dr. Sylvie Tambutté (team leader), in
collaboration with all team members.
Submission Documents:
Interested individuals are invited to submit an application package
including :
a motivation letter explaining reasons for applying and how they meet the
hiring criteria outlined above,
a research project of 1 to 2 pages including a brief description of the
methods, materials and equipment required,
a CV,
a copy of PhD certificate,
name and address of at least two referees.
These application documents must be submitted as a single pdf to Sylvie
Tambutté: stambutte at centrescientifique.mc
Application Deadline: 6th April 2021.
Note: Application review will begin immediately and the position will remain
open until the position is filled.
