*Mote Marine Labs new * Elizabeth Moore International Center for Coral
Reef Research and Restoration (IC2R3), will hold its first public
"hands-on" workshop in reef restoration for the massive coral species in
land-based nurseries in Florida on December 3-9th, 2017.
Learn coral “ micro-fragmentation” techniques for restoration using the
massive coral species, at Mote Marine Laboratory’s new Elizabeth Moore
International
Center for Coral Reef Research and Restoration (IC2R3), on Summerland Key,
Florida USA with Dr. David Vaughan.
During this intensive workshop, you will learn all new micro-fragmentation
techniques necessary to conduct cutting edge coral restoration, plus growth
and survival of juveniles from sexual larval settlement, all in a
land-based nursery system, and learn the techniques for monitoring of
field out-plantings.
Field trips to monitoring sites require snorkeling equipment and basic
swimming skills
Course fees $1200 include housing with full board (breakfast, lunch,
dinner) for duration of workshop. Limited financial assistance may be
possible for
select candidates through Schmidt Marine grants from the Schmidt Family
Foundation. If you can justify a need for financial assistance, please
contact Dr. David Vaughan (dvaughan at mote.org) no later than November 15,
2017 so that you can be considered for a travel grant or scholorship
