Regarding Dr Ellen Prager's very interesting and useful post about the important effects of climate change on economy, national security and human health, there is one other aspect that might be added: that of defense. (Helen's inclusion of national security I see does not encompass this).
Two years ago a team of 16 US Generals and Admirals published: "National Security and the Accelerating Risks of Climate Change" https://www.cna.org/cna_files/pdf/MAB_5-8-14.pdf
It is hard-hitting in many places. A highlighted phrase is "...the projected impacts of climate change will be more than threat multipliers; they will serve as catalysts for instability and conflict".
Under "Major findings" is the box:
"Actions by the United States and the international community have been insufficient to adapt to the challenges associated with projected climate change. Strengthening resilience to climate impacts already locked into the system is critical, but this will reduce long-term risk only if improvements in resilience are accompanied by actionable agreements on ways to stabilize climate change."
Food for thought for all leaders, not only in the USA.
Best wishes
Charles Sheppard
