Applications are invited for a postdoctoral level Associate Research Fellow
to support the work of Professor Chris Perry (Geography, Exeter), and Dr
Tim McClanahan (Wildlife Conservation Society, Kenya). Funded under the UK
ESPA (Ecosystem Services for Poverty Alleviation) programme this post is
available from 1st October 2013 for 24 months and will be based at Exeter's
Streatham Campus, but involve fielwork in Kenya and Mozambique. The
successful applicant will work as part of a large international consortium
on 'Sustainable Poverty Alleviation from Coastal Ecosystem Services
(SPACES)'. Working with partners in Kenya and Mozambique the project will
examine how ecosystems deliver benefits to poor people. The postholder will
take a lead role in the collection and analysis of coral reef carbonate
production and ecological datasets from across a range of reef sites in
Kenya and Mozambique. The postholder will have primary responsibility for
collecting and analysing quantitative reef biophysical datasets and engage
with project partners in using these data to model the links between reef
physical and ecological "health" and the flow of ecosystems goods and
services to dependent communities.
