The NOAA Aquarius Reef Base at the University of North Carolina Wilmington is soliciting proposals for undersea research projects to be conducted in 2011 at Conch Reef and related sites in the Florida Keys. Research priorities include coral reef recruitment, survival and relationship to population dynamics; the resiliency of corals with regard to stressors and potential for recovery; biodiversity studies to assess present condition and change over time; and the impacts of ocean acidification on coral reef habitats. Projects proposing to use Aquarius as a test-bed facility for technology that supports ocean science or exploration are also encouraged. Letters-of-intent are strongly suggested and should be submitted by June 25, 2010. Full proposals are due by August 13, 2010. Please see http://aquarius.uncw.edu/rfp2011 for the full RFP and proposal guidelines.
