Assistant Director, Marine Program, Wildlife Conservation Society

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) has been dedicated to conserving
the earth's biodiversity since its establishment in 1898 as the New York
Zoological Society (NYZS). Our efforts are concentrated in many of the
world's developing countries, where biological diversity is greatest and
pressure on nature is most intense. The WCS Global Marine Program
focuses on conserving outstanding seascapes - large marine and coastal
areas of outstanding significance and conservation potential,
principally in coral reef ecosystems - and wildlife species iconic of
wildness in the seas and essential for healthy, resilient ocean
ecosystems. Headquartered in the Bronx Zoo, the Program employs
approximately 100 people and has an annual operating budget of over
$6M. Current major projects include seascape conservation in Papua New
Guinea, Indonesia, Fiji, Belize, Kenya, and Madagascar, and Ocean Giants
conservation focused on sea turtles, marine mammals (whales, dolphins,
manatees, and seals), and sharks.

We seek an Assistant Director for our Global Marine Program, to be based
at WCS headquarters in New York City. The Assistant Director will assist
in the development of Marine Program priorities, strategies, and
approaches, including when possible taking the lead. He/she will provide
assistance to the Directors and Program Manager (PM) in the operations
of the Program, including appropriate management, programmatic, and
administrative support for the Program. Coordinate logistical and
technical support for projects. Ensure that Program activities are
on-track with objectives and timelines as proposed in project proposals
and documents. Manage required narrative reports from a diverse field
staff: Ensure timely submission of reports, provide critical analysis
and editing of incoming reports, distribute reports to required and
appropriate recipients. Represent program at meetings, conferences,
donor events and discussion forums. Assist with compiling accounting,
