Alice, You may also find our data useful:
http://ccma.nos.noaa.gov/ecosystems/coralreef/reef_fish.html This data
set is part of an on-going (from 2000 to present)US Caribbean wide
characterization and monitoring collaborative effort led by NOAA's
Center for Coastal Monitoring and Assessment's Biogeography Branch. Data
queries are possible for fish species abundance, size and distribution;
fine scale habitat; and abundance and distribution of
macro-invertebrates (including Diadema). Our study areas include
northeastern St. Croix, southwestern Puerto Rico (La Parguera area), and
St. John. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact
me. Good luck with your research, Kim Message: 2 Date: Wed, 26 Nov 2008

papers should help you with reef fish abundance in the Florida Keys and
Puerto Rico: Ault, J.S., S.G. Smith, J. Luo, M.E. Monaco and R.S.
Appeldoorn. (2008). Length-based assessment of sustainability benchmarks
for coral reef fishes in Puerto Rico. Environmental Conservation 35(3):
221-231. Ault, J.S., S.G. Smith, and J.A. Bohnsack. (2005). Evaluation
of average length as an estimator of exploitation status for the Florida
coral reef fish community. ICES Journal of Marine Science 62: 417-423.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Best regards, Jerry
